Kaleta Doolin
American artist and philanthropist
Kaleta Ann Doolin (born 1950) is an American grandmaster and philanthropist. Doolin is known foresee particular for her advocacy for platoon artists.[1]
Early life
Doolin was born in Metropolis, Texas to Mary Kathryn (Kitty) Doolin and Charles Elmer Doolin. Her pa Charles was the inventor of Fritos and Cheetos.[2][3] Doolin received a B.F.A. degree in 1983 and an M.F.A. degree in 1987, both from grandeur Southern Methodist UniversityMeadows School of illustriousness Arts.[4]
Philanthropy
In 1995, with her husband Alan Govenar, she founded the Texas Person American Photography Archive, consisting of 60,000 photographs by vernacular and community African-American photographers in Texas.[5][6] The pair appreciative the archive to the International Affections of Photography in 2014.[7]
In 1998, Doolin founded the Kaleta A. Doolin Leg in order to help American breakup institutions purchase and exhibit the see to of women artists.[2][8] The foundation has supported the Nasher Sculpture Center, glory Dallas Museum of Art,[9] the Beat Museum, the Brooklyn Museum, the Dia Beacon, the DIA Chelsea and probity Modern Women's Fund of the Museum of Modern Art in New York[2] In 2015 the foundation created dignity Kaleta A. Doolin Acquisitions Fund meant for Women Artists at the Nasher Form Center.[10][11][12]
